BPM finder
Choose a song file and this BPM finder reads its tempo right here in the tab: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC. The answer comes in a second or two, to a tenth of a BPM, with half and double time and the delay times. No file at hand: let it listen to a speaker, or tap the beat.

Find the BPM of any song you have as a file
Choose the file with the button, or drag it onto the card on a laptop. Your browser decodes it, mixes the channels to one and runs the beat tracker over it faster than real time, so a three-minute track takes about as long as a page load. It stops once the tempo has held for eight bars, or after the first three minutes. A song you bought, ripped or exported from your DAW works. A stream on Spotify or YouTube is not a file: play it on a speaker and tap Listen instead.
What you get back
The tempo to a tenth of a BPM, how sure the tracker is, and the readings an octave away. A track that reads 87 may be the 174 drum and bass you know: pick the one your DJ software or your DAW shows, and the delay, pre-delay, LFO and gate table follows it. One beat lasts 60,000 ÷ BPM milliseconds; the table is that division, straight, dotted and triplet.
Songs a BPM finder gets wrong
Tempo detectors listen for the hits of drums. A piano ballad played freely, an orchestra that breathes, a live take that speeds up into the chorus or a track that changes tempo halfway has no single number. The finder then says it could not lock, or gives the tempo of the part it read first. Cut out the part you care about, or tap along on the pad. Swing and a beat that skips the one can pull it to half time; the buttons beside the number fix that.
How exact is it?
On the benchmark, 108 loops from 90 to 175 BPM, it never named a wrong tempo: 103 on their own, five on half or double (measured 2026-10-28). Those are drum loops. A full mix with vocals and a long quiet intro is harder, which is why it shows how sure it is.
BPM and key from one song?
Many sites promise both. The tempo of a mix is easy to hear; its key is not, because bass, chords and voice sound at once. Brumm's key finder reads the key from a melody you hum or a sample that plays one note at a time, and says so. For mixing, each key page gives the key's Camelot code.
A tempo for your own track
The door under the number opens Brumm at that tempo, halved or doubled into the 90 to 150 the app plays: hum a line and it plays as an instrument over a beat. Counting live music instead of files is the BPM counter, the same tracker with the microphone first.
Audio: your microphone, on only after you tap, or a file you choose; once a file is chosen, no request leaves the page. The sound is analysed in this tab and never sent. Nothing about the audio reaches the visit count.
