Where you hear it
Dorian is the minor of funk, jazz and much folk: "So What" by Miles Davis, "Oye Como Va", "Scarborough Fair", "Another Brick in the Wall". Its raised sixth makes the chord on the fourth degree major (in D Dorian, G major), so a vamp between Dm and G is Dorian in two chords. On a backing track in a minor key, swap the ♭6 for the 6 and you are playing it.
