Tune your 808 in Logic Pro
Drop the 808 you are about to put in Quick Sampler. Read its note here, save it tuned, then give Logic the root key: the key that plays the sample at its own pitch.

Mika names the note, the Root Key field takes it. He doesn't touch the Mac.Pick a WAV, AIFF or MP3 of one hit. It is read in this browser.

Next: move your chords to that key, or find the root note of any other one-shot.
In Logic Pro, step by step
- Read the 808 above. Leave the target on the nearest note and save the tuned WAV: the cents are gone, the length is the same.
- Drag the tuned WAV onto Quick Sampler's waveform display and drop it on Original: Original keeps the file's tuning, loudness and length, Optimized sets them for you.
- The sample maps around C3, the default root key. In Classic mode, drag the Root Key field at the bottom left of the waveform display to the note the line under the result names.
- Play that key: the 808 at its own pitch. Keys above play it higher and faster, keys below lower and slower.
Keeping the original file instead? The Tune field beside Root Key sets the root key's tuning in cents, and the Fine knob tunes the whole instrument in cents. The tuned WAV spares you working out which way.
Checked against Apple's Logic Pro User Guide (Quick Sampler Classic mode: the Root Key and Tune fields; Quick Sampler Pitch controls: Coarse, Fine, Glide; the Event List: middle C is note 60, C3, and Display Middle C As) and Apple Support, "Edit and play single samples with Quick Sampler" (Original and Optimized, default root key C3).
Why Logic says F0 when this page says F1
Logic names middle C, MIDI note 60, C3, and its notes run from C−2 to G8; this page calls middle C C4, with A4 at 440 Hz. So Logic shows every note an octave lower: an 808 at F1 (43.65 Hz) is F0 in Quick Sampler's Root Key field.
Logic can switch: Logic Pro > Settings > Display, Display Middle C As. Set to C4, Logic and this page agree, and the note is the one above the graph.
Slides and pitch in Quick Sampler
Quick Sampler's Pitch section has Coarse in semitones, Fine in cents and Glide, the time it takes to slide from one note to the next. Once the root key is right, a sliding 808 line lands on the written notes.
Dropped on Optimized, Quick Sampler sets the tuning by itself. For an 808 with a long drop, compare its choice with the tail this page reads, and keep Original when they differ.
Then make something of it
The note goes into Brumm as a bassline on an 808, in a running club track. The WAV is yours: 24-bit, mono; a WAV keeps its sample rate.
Audio: a file you choose, opened in this tab; once it is chosen, no request leaves the page. The sound is analysed in this tab and never sent. Nothing about the audio reaches the visit count.
