How to tune
The tenor guitar was made in the 1920s for tenor banjo players, so it kept their tuning: C G D A in fifths, the same notes as a viola. Fifths spread wide, so a chord covers a lot of ground with few fingers.
Chicago tuning, D G B E, is the top four strings of a guitar: guitarists pick a tenor up and play with the shapes they know; it's the second switch. In C G D A the thin A string is under real tension on a short neck; tune it up last and slowly, after the others have pulled the neck into place.
Then play something
The notes you tuned can go into Brumm as a short melody over a beat. Hum a line on top and it becomes an instrument.
