How to tune
The guitarrón is the mariachi's bass, a big six-string with a vaulted back and no frets. It's tuned A D G C E A, and the last A turns back: after rising to the E, the first string drops to the A below it, an octave above the sixth string. The low A sits at 55 Hz, so the tuner reads it through its overtones.
With no frets, the open strings are the only fixed notes: tune them carefully and check them often. The guitarrón is played in octaves, two strings at once, so after tuning each string, pluck the octave pairs the music uses, such as the sixth and first strings on A, and listen for the beating to stop.
Then play something
The notes you tuned can go into Brumm as a short melody over a beat. Hum a line on top and it becomes an instrument.
The microphone is read in the browser and nothing is kept. How the site counts visits.
