How to tune
Most lever harps leave the maker in E♭ major: E♭ F G A♭ B♭ C D in every octave, so the levers can sharpen their way into more keys. Some players keep theirs in C. Tune one octave against the needle, then the other octaves by ear, octave against octave.
Tune with every lever down; a lever engaged while you tune puts that string a semitone off for the rest of the evening. On a pedal harp the same rule reads: all pedals up, in the flat position, so the open strings sit in C♭. The red strings are the Cs, the landmark for counting.
Then play something
The notes you tuned can go into Brumm as a short melody over a beat. Hum a line on top and it becomes an instrument.
