Learn the recorder with a phone
Pick a note at the top. Mika shows which holes are covered (black) and which stay open (white). The hole on the left is the thumb hole at the back. Hold the recorder with your left hand at the top, tap the button and play the note for two seconds. The page listens like a tuner and tells you which note it heard.
After four notes you have a little tune. Listen to it, then take it into Brumm Kids: a marimba plays your notes over a beat, and you can sing along.
Why "gently" and not "wrong"?
On a recorder, your breath changes the note. Blow harder and it goes up; blow much too hard and it jumps to the high note. Blow too softly and it sinks a little. So the page never says "wrong": it says how to blow, more gently or a bit stronger, or to press your fingers flat over the holes again.

Baroque or German?
There are two fingering systems. Most recorders in English-speaking schools are Baroque (sometimes called English fingering); German fingering is common in Germany. Not sure? Play F with both fingerings: the one that sounds clean is yours. Every other note above is fingered the same.
For parents
The page only listens when your child taps, and only for two seconds. The note is read in the browser and forgotten straight away: no recording, no account, nothing is sent. There are no points and no comparison with other children. Made for the descant (soprano) recorder in C, the one most schools use.
