The rock and blues major
Mixolydian is the scale of a dominant seventh chord: over G7 it is G Mixolydian. Its ♭7 gives the major key a looser, bluesy sound: "Sweet Home Alabama", "Norwegian Wood", Celtic fiddle tunes and the bagpipe. A chord progression that goes from the I to a major chord on the ♭VII (G to F) is Mixolydian.
