How to tune

A banjolele is a ukulele neck on a small banjo body, tuned like a ukulele: G C E A with the G above the C. The 1920s ukulele books mostly wrote for D tuning, a whole tone higher, A D F♯ B; it's the second switch, for the old songbooks.

The bridge isn't glued: it stands on the drum head, held only by the strings, and slides if you retune hard or change strings. If the open strings tick but the twelfth fret plays sharp or flat, the bridge has walked; move it until the octave matches. Head tension changes the tone too: a slack head sounds dull and the notes die fast.

Then play something

The notes you tuned can go into Brumm as a short melody over a beat. Hum a line on top and it becomes an instrument.

The microphone is read in the browser and nothing is kept. How the site counts visits.
