brumm Kids

For parents · from 4 · a phone and the tonies app

Your child's own song on a Creative-Tonie.

Your child hums a melody, Brumm Kids makes a track of it. You download it as a file and put it on the Creative-Tonie. Three steps, about fifteen minutes.

Mika: “I make the beat for your song. A grown-up puts it on the figure, with the tonies app.”

You need: a phone with Brumm Kids in the browser, the tonies app (or my.tonies.com on a laptop), a Creative-Tonie and a Toniebox on Wi-Fi.

  1. To warm up, if you likeEcho singing

Mika sings a few notes, your child sings them back. After that, humming a melody of their own comes easier.

  2. Or this: four notes make a melodySing the note

Four sung notes in a row go straight into Brumm Kids as a melody. For children who can't think of one of their own.

  3. Step 1 · where the song is madeBrumm Kids, the app

Your child hums two bars, Mika makes a track of them. Up to six melodies, and every track lands on the shelf.

Start: Brumm KidsHum two bars, Mika builds the beat around them. No account.

Step 1: make the song

Open Brumm Kids and press Play. Your child taps Brumm and hums or sings two bars, the phone close to their mouth. The melody comes back in time, first in their own voice, then as an instrument. Every new melody joins in. Whatever is playing goes onto the shelf under Songs by itself; New starts a fresh song.

A track lasts a few minutes, four and a half at most: as long as a shared link plays it.

Step 2: download it as a WAV

This part is yours, not your child's. The file is made on the phone; nothing goes to our server.

  1. The shelf

Tap Songs at the top, then Share · for grown-ups at the bottom.

  2. The parental gate

Hold the button and work out the sum. Wrong, or let go: back to the track, nothing happens.

  3. Pick the track

Tap the song that should go on the Tonie. The one playing now is already picked.

  4. Download

In the Download box, tap As audio (WAV). Mika plays the track into a file and the music pauses meanwhile. On an older phone this can take about as long as the song.

  5. Save

Tap Save…. On an iPhone the share menu opens: choose Save to Files and a folder you'll find again. On Android the file usually lands in Downloads. On a laptop it is in the downloads folder.

The file is named after the song on the shelf and takes about 10 MB a minute, so a whole track stays under 50 MB. It is uncompressed, so it sounds as it does in the app. As MIDI, next to it, is for music software, not for the Tonie.

Step 3: onto the Creative-Tonie

  1. The tonies app

Open the tonies app, pick your Creative-Tonie and upload a file. Choose the WAV from step 2 (on an iPhone, from the Files app). On a laptop, my.tonies.com does the same: pick the Creative-Tonie, drag the file in.

  2. The Toniebox

Put the Creative-Tonie on the Toniebox. The box fetches the new song over Wi-Fi; tonies say it already plays while it does.

  3. Sorting

In the tonies app the titles can be renamed, reordered and deleted again as often as you like. Each of your child's songs is a title of its own.

The exact names of the buttons in the tonies app change with its updates. If something is called differently from here: tonies' help, the article on recording or uploading to a Creative-Tonie at support.tonies.com.

What a Creative-Tonie holds

As of 21 October 2026, from tonies' help pages (support.tonies.com) and tonies.com. tonies may change this; what they say is what counts. The figures come from the German site; in another country, check your own tonies site.

What happens to your child's voice

If your child sings or hums in the track, their voice can usually be heard in the WAV. Downloading keeps it on your phone: Brumm never sees the file, or that you made it. Uploading it to the Creative-Tonie sends the file to tonies, into your account there; that is covered by tonies' terms, not ours.

If it gets stuck

The file never finishes: keep Brumm Kids open and the phone awake until the file is there; then Try again. The tonies app can't find the file: on an iPhone, choose “Save to Files” in step 2. The Tonie plays the old content: the box needs Wi-Fi to fetch the new song; tonies' help says how to reconnect it.
