Mandola tuner
A free mandola tuner in your phone's browser: C G D A in pairs like a viola, or the octave mandola's G D A E, one pair at a time, with a needle and the cents. Nothing uploaded.

C or G on the lowest pair says which mandola it is. Mika checks that before anything else. The microphone closes when you stop, when all is in tune, or after half a minute of quiet. Nothing is recorded.

How to tune
The mandola is to the mandolin what the viola is to the violin: C G D A, a fifth lower, four pairs tuned in unison. The octave mandola sits a whole octave under the mandolin, G D A E; both are on the switch.
The names cross borders badly. In the US "mandola" is the C G D A instrument; in Ireland and Britain the same thing is a "tenor mandola", and "octave mandola" means the G D A E one, which Americans call an octave mandolin; in Italy a "mandola" is usually the G D A E. Check the lowest pair: C or G tells you which you hold.
Then play something
The notes you tuned can go into Brumm as a short melody over a beat. Hum a line on top and it becomes an instrument.
The microphone is read in the browser and nothing is kept. How the site counts visits.
