Sitar tuner
A free sitar tuner in your phone's browser: the seven playing strings, Ma Sa Pa Sa and the chikari, one at a time with a needle and the cents, Sa on C♯ or D. Nothing uploaded.

The microphone stays open while you tune and closes when you stop, when everything is in tune, or after half a minute of quiet. Nothing is recorded or sent.
How to tune
The tuner asks for the seven playing strings in the usual Ravi Shankar layout: the main string on Ma, then Sa, Pa and the low Sa, then the three chikari strings on Pa, Sa and high Sa. Pick your Sa first: most sitars sit on C♯, many on D. Pluck each string with the mizrab and let it ring.
The eleven to thirteen sympathetic strings follow the raga, not a fixed table, so they are yours to tune by ear against the Sa you just set. Pluck lightly: a sitar's jawari makes a buzzing, bright sound that the tuner reads best a moment after the attack.
The needle shows how far you are from the note the tuner expects, in cents: a hundred cents is a semitone, five or closer gets the tick, and anything inside twenty most people don't hear.
Then play something
The notes you tuned go into Brumm as a short melody, inside a club track with a beat and a bass. No account, no upload: the notes travel inside the link itself. Hum or play a line there, and it becomes an instrument.
The microphone is read in the browser and nothing is kept. How the site counts visits.
